The very nature of an airport defines it as a place of transition. We do not spend more than one or two hours at airports

because we are usually either departing or arriving. But this does not mean we should have a less than pleasant experience whilst we are there. Some airports seem to be more switched on to this fact than others. If you have ever wondered why you prefer a particular airport, it may be because they know how to keep the passengers satisfied. Here we look at the ways in which your local airport can make that little difference.

Trolleys

You should have easy access to plenty of trolleys for your check in experience. Some airports have neglected this feature and it can take ages to find the supply. If you have a choice of sizes, then all the better for you! They should be located near the entrance of the airport and there should be a plentiful supply near the luggage carousel. You should not have to pay for this service, some airports seem to be oblivious to this fact and charge regardless.

Catering

Travelling can be a stressful experience and eating can sometimes help to combat that feeling. A good airport will have a decent selection of eating places on offer. As well as fast food options, there should be suitable restaurants for young families and their children. They should have a vegetarian option to cater for the religious travelers with hunger pains. The service staff should be cheerful and helpful at this time of transition. There can be no bigger downer when faced with a miserable waitress just before the holiday of a lifetime.

Shopping

Shopping is not everybody’s cup of tea, but it certainly acts as a therapy for many of us. If you have a few hours to waste whilst waiting for your flight, why not spend it shopping? You can get a last minute gift or perhaps a decent book to read on your flight. The duty free option is always welcome when looking for a decent bargain. You have forgotten to pack some essential items, a decent airport will have thought about these possibilities when designing their retail outlets.

Open Spaces

Airports can be stuffy and crowded places to endure sometimes. A well spaced out airport lounge can remove a lot of the anxiety and flight related stress easily. If you have ever visited Singapore Changi airport, you will see what difference an oasis-like transit lounge can make. It has won the best airport in the world awards so often, it must be doing everything right.

Happy Staff

There are thousands of employees at any busy airport, but are they happy ones? We like to be treated a little special when going on our once a year jaunts. Nobody likes to be met by a sour faced check in worker just before that special experience. The management needs to train the staff to be friendly and courteous at all times. These little touches will make all the difference to your state of mind for your journey ahead.

Airport car hire also makes an airport more special. If you are looking for the easiest car park to find, Europcar Airport Parking is Melbourne’s best airport parking company you can approach. Refer the link for more information.
